Arizona Courts May Foil Nader On Election

Living in Arizona now, I am starting to get the hang of statewide politics. Democratic governor Janet Napalitino commented yesterday via NPR on a lawsuit challenging Ralph Nader's bid for appearing on the fall election ballots. The challenge comes contesting the signatures on required voter support. The purpose is to block him as state Dems fear his position on the ballot may hurt a tight race in Arizona for president. They cite the closeness of the projected results and of course, Florida's prominent role in the 2000 election. I think it is still misleading to promote the loss of the 2000 election in any way on the presence of a third party candidate. Doesn't the general public get it on the ELECTORAL college? And the odd use of voter denials of participation and the use of the courts to further discount "ballots"? We're doomed. Doomed, I tell you. Without a viable mechanism to establish a real opportunity for a third party on the ballots, there is so little "choice" and that usually amounts to each voter selecting the opposite of who they really don't want. In my lifetime, it would be nice for a change to vote FOR a candidate, and not pick the lesser of two evils. Oops, I must be slipping into LaLaLand. Sigh.
